I had a hysterectomy because of uterine cancer just over five years ago. Any women who has had a hysterectomy knows that there are all sorts of changes that gone on, including bladder issues.
Today I felt a sneeze coming, and as I was about to sneeze I also felt a bit of a full bladder. So it was ‘holy crap… well holy pee’ I thought I was going to leak as I sneezed. Luckily the Kegel exercises are still working, but it was a close call.
Welcome to the Boomer Bladder not so fun club!
Who knew that your bladder would not be your friend after surgery, giving birth, or as you age.
I talked to my hubby about it tonight and he doesn’t have the same kind of issue I did today, but I have noticed he does a little ‘dance’ in bed in the morning when it is time to hit the bathroom.
Yah when we were just a babe we wore diapers for this kind of issue, but really who wants to now? If we can do something to prevent it we will, right?!
So what my doctor told me is at least every hour during the day go ‘relieve’ yourself. Stop drinking liquids at least an hour before bed.
And… be careful when you sneeze!
